As a student myself, I understand how important learning is when tailored to the student. I focus on adaptable and flexible education to ensure each student is able to comprehend and absorb as much information as possible at each session. My aims are student focused so I will usually engage with each student and ascertain their strengths and weaknesses in the subject before preparing sessions to ensure I am covering the wide range of topics needed at GCSE level. I tend to lean towards a more visual/ diagram oriented style of teaching but if a different method is preferred I am always happy to change my methods. If a student is unhappy they should feel safe enough to address the problem so we can resolve it together, it is incredibly important to me that students feel learning is a safe space and they won’t be shut down for asking questions or not understanding a topic immediately. My previous experience revolves around teaching younger children 6-7 years old English’s and maths on a Saturday morning and when I myself was an A level student I coached the GCSE students in both Biology and English. If a student, struggles with additional learning needs I am well equipped to deal with these, for the example slow processing or ADHD, I believe learning should be continued throughout people’s lives and the best ways to continue this is to enjoy the time spent learning when you were younger, even if it’s for your GCSE subjects. :)
