I prefer doing a lot of exam practice for maths, so I can walk through exam papers with students. I will get students to do exam questions as homework and I will mark their work while explaining where they went wrong, how they went wrong and what they can do to fix this. I will lend my previous notes to students and give them valuable advice on the process of GCSEs, having been through the difficulties myself.
For GCSE Biology, I will start by testing students current knowledge and see where they need improvement. Then I will explain difficult content in my own terms to help students understand properly. Every session will have an active recall practice to make sure students are keeping up with the work. As with maths, I will constantly go through exam questions and assign homework for Biology. I will also show my notes and what I did to achieve a grade 8 which was 4 marks away from a 9. Having gone through the process, I know what is needed to achieve 9s.
I will make sure to answer students questions and concerns, which they can ask me via WhatsApp. I will also require contact to students parents to give regular feedback of their child's progress, and what can be done at home to help them unlock their potential.
I do online classes as well as in person. Online classes are just as interactive and I will require students to keep their cameras on. Here, most of the time I will be sharing my screen and using online notepads/whiteboards.
