I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Secondary Mathematics earned in 2016, which means I am a fully qualified teacher. I am also a graduate in Electronic Engineering. What inspired me to become a teacher is being able to help students exceed their expectations, as my teachers once did for me when I was in school.
I teach all year groups from KS3 to A-Level Maths, being experienced teaching both the CIE and Edexcel Maths syllabus. I have also helped students under the AQA exam board and those taking the SATs (Maths) for American University student applications.
I also have worked as an examiner for both Edexcel and Cambridge International, which means I'm well versed in understanding how exams are marked and how students should structure their answers to maximise their results. This means that as a qualified teacher and examiner, my focus is on preparation towards exam style questions and shaping thought process to extract the most out of exam questions.
My lessons consist of a starter based on a previous topic or background knowledge needed for the new topic. Then I teach the concept, using visual aids and real world examples so that students understand how different concepts are related and how they can be applied to different situations. Then I provide students with an opportunity to practice what they have learned.
If students are preparing towards their exams, the main focus of the lesson would be to teach problem solving skills adequate for each type of question, review key concepts and provide exam style questions for students to practice.
