As a private maths, biology, and chemistry tutor for GCSE and below, my lessons are structured, supportive, and always tailored to the individual needs of each student. I aim to create a calm and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building their confidence in maths.

Each session typically begins with a short warm-up or recap of the previous topic to reinforce understanding. From there, I introduce new content in a clear, step-by-step manner, using examples that match the student’s level and learning style. I guide students through practice problems, encouraging them to explain their thinking as they work—this helps deepen their understanding and identify any misconceptions early on. Lessons end with a quick summary and, if helpful, follow-up tasks to reinforce learning between sessions.

I focus on making topics less intimidating by breaking down complex concepts into manageable parts. Whether a student is working to secure the basics or aiming for top grades, I adapt my pace and approach to suit them. I’m familiar with the major GCSE exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR) and use this to guide my teaching toward what really matters for success in exams—both in terms of content and technique.

With experience tutoring a range of abilities, I understand that every student learns differently. I take the time to get to know their strengths, areas for improvement, and preferred ways of learning. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but to develop confidence, problem-solving skills, and a more positive attitude toward learning overall.
