I have been tutoring for over a year now to students of all ages ranging from year 1 to year 11. Depending on the student, my method of conveying information also changes. I teach using diagrams, walking through examples and walking through exam questions, especially for the older ages. I teach Maths and Science mainly but can also teach English if you would like. For the younger years, I integrate fun into the learning by finishing off the lesson with a BBC bitesize game based on the topic that’s been learnt in the lesson. I also allow students to tell me what they’re struggling with in class so I can focus on that with them, however if they’re not struggling with anything in particular then I follow a curriculum for the year that they’re in. I also have experience working with children that have dyslexia and struggle with spellings, where a lot of progress has been seen after I have worked with them. As well as this, I have worked with children that have ADHD and autism so I understand the importance of patience and making the lesson as comfortable as possible for all my students. I understand the fine line between me being the teacher and me being the child’s friend, however I’m regards to this I make sure my students enjoy coming to my tuition sessions rather than them seeing it as a chore. Every GCSE student I have worked with so far has gone from not passing their exams to passing after working with me.
