It is when I started teaching my own children at home that I developed a passion to gain and share knowledge particulary with children.
Learning a foreign language is about engaging, processing and practicing. With this in mind, my lessons are divided into three main parts :
1 Introduction and warming. This is the shortest yet the most important part of the lesson because once my student is tuned in with me, I can proceed to the aim of the lesson.
2 The main goal. During this time I present my student with one particular point of the French language : it can be related to grammar, vocabulary, reading, oral or written comprehension, speaking...
3 To finish I will give my student the opportunity to practise what they already know. Ideally this would be a follow-up of what has just been seen, but to make sure they gain confidence, it can be related to something else previously learned. So long as they use their personal knowledge to communicate.
Depending on my students' age and ability I always try to use games, quizzes and real life situations to get them involved. I like to use resources adapted to learners' point of interest, bearing in mind that most student have to follow a specific curriculum.
Before I take on a new student I will spend an hour (free of charge) to test his or her level and find out more about his or her social environment.
