I have worked in IT for more than 20 years and was a Specialist for a large NHS Organisation. I have an MSc in Computing (distinction), BSc in Software Development (!st) and experience and degrees in Biomedical science. I have a taught in schools at KS3 and KS4 level and have trained adults in basic IT skills.
My general format of my lessons are:
Outline of the lesson and expected deliverables
Starter task: this is to ascertain the level of prior knowledge of the students, which may lead to tailoring and deliverables of the lesson.
Introduction of the unit
A series of tasks (approximately 3) interspersed with questions to assess understanding
A review / recap of the lesson (If required)
Plenary to assess and evaluate learning as we go
