I studied A levels in biology, chemistry and psychology and achieved 3 A*s. I am currently a medical student and I am looking to mentor current GCSE or A level students. I have experience in mentoring students in their A levels. The students I mentored really valued the time I took to help them better understand the content, and practice their exam technique. In order to help them, I would formulate a series of questions about the topics they struggled with most in order to identify their weaknesses. We would then talk through said topics and I would try to word things in a different way to how they had previously been told, in more simple terms. I would then give them some exam questions to do based around the topic in order to check their understanding. Other things I would do included going through their tests and exams with them and helping them to understand where they went wrong. I would then make more questions which were similar in style to the questions on the test that they got wrong and make sure that they understood how to approach them. The lessons I will teach will be at a pace dictated by the student. I understand how easy it is to get confused when lessons move too fast and so want to avoid this when teaching students. I also have experience volunteering at Rainbows for over 4 years, and working in a fish and chip shop for 2 years which aided my communication skills.
