Grace Norris

Hello my name is Grace, and I am a 21 year old student studying Spanish and Italian studies at the university of Lancaster. I have a real passion for language learning, and right now I am in Spain as part of my international placement year. I work as a conversational assistant in Murcia and on Tuesdays and Thursdays 4pm-7pm, I teach three English classes, all at different levels and abilities at a language academy. My role as a conversational assistant includes reading, speaking and conversational practice with children from the ages of 6-12. One of the most important aspects of language learning to me, is conversational and speaking practice. This is what I will specialise in, because speaking the language and being able to communicate verbally, is a very useful skill to obtain. In addition to this I would also like to cater to each of my students needs specifically and allow them to focus on the aspects that they find most difficult, for example if one student is struggling to understand modal verbs, then my aim is to perfect this until they can use them without hesitation and with fluency. I know that lessons can be deemed as boring, however I want mine to be as interesting and as engaging as possible. I also know that grammar in any language can be difficult and tedious, however I have spent time researching and I know certain ways to make the difficult concepts engaging and also easy to remember.
