I enjoy splitting the lesson into 3 distinct parts: firstly, completing questions from a wide range of topics- usually this is the first third of the lesson, where the student is making links between different topics, indirectly revising content they have learnt. The second third is me teaching or going over a particularly difficult topic or concept, using worked examples and also involving the student in answering questions. The final third is the student applying the knowledge they have just learnt to the questions I give them. If there is time, I also go over any questions students may have, for example incorrectly answered questions from a practice paper. This is my general style of a lesson, however I am also very flexible and open to delivering lessons tailored to the student's preferences.
I am well-experienced in teaching online, and have a few online GCSE maths students who are aiming for a range of different target grades. I pride myself on my ability to concisely and simply breakdown difficult concepts, and always ensure the student is actively learning by encouraging them to think for themselves.
At GCSEs I achieved all 9s in Maths, Triple Science, English Language, English Literature, Religious Studies, French, Geography and Music. At A-levels, I completed Maths (A*), Biology (A*), Chemistry (A) and Music (A*). I am currently a first year undergraduate at the University of Cambridge, studying Medicine. As someone who has very recently left secondary education my knowledge on the GCSE course is up to date, and I am able to not only teach content with the focus of understanding, but also teach exam techniques, enabling students to reach their target grades.
