I have recently finished a 5 year integrated masters programme in mathematics at the University of Glasgow. I am looking to do a PhD in the intersections between maths, physics and theoretical computer science (intersection of operator algebras, quantum groups and quantum information theory to be more precise). I have a genuine passion for studying, which I think is crucial for teaching. I believe the goal of teaching is to inspire students to love learning and to equip them with the skills to learn independently (the teacher should become redundant at some point, right?). I am particularly passionate about math and comfortable teaching any math course up to the third year of an undergraduate math program. I have a solid understanding of the subject, making me well-suited to teach a wide range of math students.
I have nearly 4 years of experience as a tutor. I started tutoring maths, physics and chemistry at secondary and high school level. As I advanced in my studies, I chose to specialize in tutoring mathematics. My tutoring experience has been varied. I’ve conducted one-on-one sessions, small group lessons, and taught entire classrooms. I’ve worked with students who only wanted to pass an exam and those who were eager to explore more advanced topics. This experience has taught me how to tailor my teaching to different needs, whether it is helping students pass a test or preparing customized content for those who want to delve deeper into math. I have experience in both in-person and online tutoring.
Over the past year, I have worked as a tutor for the University of Glasgow in various programs. During the term, I assisted with tutorials for first and second-year undergraduate math courses and participated in a tutoring program for students in their penultimate year of school. This summer, I took on a more leading role in the university's summer school, helping students transition to university-level studies.
