Hi, I've been a secondary school Science teacher for about 30 years, having taught in South Africa, New Zealand and most recently in the UK. Besides being a Science teacher for so many years, I love the English language and I have a 120 hour TEFL course qualification. I have discovered a passion for teaching ESL to students around the world. My life experience means I can discuss a variety of topics which include vocabulary used in everyday life as well as in the workplace and in educational settings.
I have always welcomed enquiry-styled teaching where student-lead engagement has been top of the list. Fun and relevant lessons really help to make learning a memorable experience. Being patient, correcting mistakes with empathy as well as being respectful of cultural differences is very important to me. My aim is to make students feel confident conversing in English.
I love travelling and have lived in 3 countries. I have tutored both on-line and also face to face. During the pandemic I taught my classes on-line via zoom lessons. For the last year I have travelled through Europe and the UK enjoying the cultural and biological richness of each country I've visited. I have met so many different people, some who have become friends although we met only for a few days. I love expriencing the customs that different countries have to offer.
