My teaching methods involve first going through your Psychology course’s specification list, and creating an interactive list which we can go through, based on which areas you feel as though you need to focus on the most/ which areas you want to understand better.
Once these areas have been identified, we will start by defining key concepts, making sense of them in the greater context of the subject and practicing some 2 and 4 mark questions to consolidate. The learning methods which I found worked best during my A Levels (to achieve an A* grade) were flashcards/ quizlet with spaced repetition, active recall, mnemonics and practice questions. I have created multiple quizlets for Psychology AQA A Level definitions (AO1) and research (AO3) which you can also use outside lesson time if you wish to.
Once we have established a good foundational understanding of previously confusing/ hard topics, we can move on to practicing longer questions and essay planning, where I have also designed some curveball questions that help you think on your feet when planning essays, and prepare you for any sort of question during the exams. I will also be including a few questions at the beginning of each session on things we have previously learnt, to ensure they remain fresh in your memory.
We would take on this structure for our sessions if you find it works for you, or we can easily reassess the structure and include any learning methods which you find work best for you.
