- To individual students, looking for an experienced, patient and approachable tutor I'd like to say this.
Having trained as a teacher (PGCE and QTLS), and holding a higher degree in Modern Foreign Languages, I have been working for Penwith and Truro College in Penzance and in Truro and have worked for Adult Education in Falmouth and Helston since 2007.
My passion for my mother tongue shines through my classes, in which I offer insights of life and culture in Italy, even though focusing on speaking and understanding useful conversational Italian and reading and writing everyday language. Small class numbers and varied activity-based exercises enable my students to maximize their learning in a fun but professional environment.
Besides teaching part-time courses, I give one-to-one lessons to younger students preparing their GCSE, A level and IB exams, and to adults seeking to improve their language skills for work or leisure.
Since 2020 I have been devising and teaching live online lessons for small to medium groups of students, as well as individuals, using the Zoom platform, MS Teams, and digital learning applications.
- To companies seeking a language coach with business experience, I 'd like to add that previous to my teaching qualification I worked in business and customer service. In particular: in Italy I have interpreted at business meetings, trade fairs and conferences.
I have travelled extensively in China and India as the account executive of an international buying agency based in Milan, Italy, translating for clients, and taking part in the negotiations in English on their behalf.
I have translated product specifications from Italian into English; company documents from Italian into English and vice versa; books from English into Italian; correspondence and documents for individual clients.
