As your tutor, I will focus on helping you study history as a subject that goes beyond just memorization. The subject requires analysis and critical thinking, but most importantly, interpretation. To help with these facets of the subject, I will strive to make our work environment fun and entertaining, to make you enjoy the subject as much as possible. I will bring in different sources such as movies and books to help you enjoy the topics you have to study. We will analyse different sources and perspectives on historical events to help you develop your critical thinking skills and create well supported arguments. Together, we will understand the contexts of different historical events so that you as a student can also appreciate more the consequences and motivations of actions in the past and gain a much deeper understanding of historical events and figures.
This subject is not only memory and analysis, but the study of our past and the explanation of modern day events. I strive to make this subject as enjoyable and understandable as possible by giving some exercises to do on your own and some we can do together.
I have experience of tutoring for another subject (English) but history has always been a major passion of mine and the strongest subject in all my studies. I wish to pass on my liking for the subject to students and show that history is memory, analysis and evaluation, but this can be done in a delightful and pleasurable way.
