Our class will start with a short physical warm-up. This is where your happy, busy energy is engaged and you allow yourself to feel good. It could be as simple as shaking your hands or as detailed as a dance (silent, or to your favourite music). After this, we will chant OM three times to bring calmness and a feeling of wellbeing into our space. Then we will focus a few minutes on getting the right posture. For a longer session we have a stabilisation/calming practice known as a body scan where you work with your imagination to still each part of your body. Very relaxing indeed. And now you are ready for the next stage - gentle breath work. The exercises I use are designed to quieten the whole body-mind system. We are then perfectly ready to move into a short concentration exercise, which will develop your capacity for meditation proper. Throughout the session, I will be guiding you, but there will be plenty of quiet pauses for you to really digest the instructions and feel the benefits of the practices.
If you enjoy this session, once you are more familiar with mindful meditation we can move onto other meditations, which you will enjoy.
