I am an enthusiastic, fully qualified Primary school teacher with three years of teaching experience. I am also an experienced private tutor. During my time teaching, I have taught across all levels and year groups.
I believe strongly in promoting a growth and mastery focused mindset within the children I teach. Children are intrinsically motivated to do well in subjects they enjoy, and consider themselves to be strong in. These principles are key to my teaching practice. Children learn best when they engaged with the learning content. I strive to make my lessons fun, where children are engaged, motivated and able to learn independently.
I also look to develop strong, positive, relationships with my pupils, as I believe these must be in place for effective learning to take place. Getting to know my pupils is essential. One way I do this is through getting to know their interests – what engages and motivates them. By doing this, I can develop interest-based learning activities which are designed to encourage learning.
I hold a post graduate Primary teaching qualification, as well as an undergraduate honours degree in Biology. I am passionate about promoting STEM within my teaching and its many benefits for my pupils. A solid understating of STEM better prepares for young people entering the modern workforce. STEM learning is beneficial because it encourages pupils to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills while having fun.
