I've tutored Philosophy students, aiming to make it easy to grasp, even for those who found it tough. I believe Philosophy isn't just about academics but about how it applies to daily life, helping us grow and find balance.
In this course, we'll dive into excerpts and analyse texts to understand the philosophy, its historical context, and how it relates to us today. It's about seeing how philosophy can really shape our lives.
In our course, we'll embark on a journey through various texts:
- We'll explore Erich Fromm's "The Art of Loving" to examine the notion that love is a skill that can be cultivated. We'll discuss practical tools such as meditation.
- Next, we'll delve into Plato's myth of the Androgynous, drawing parallels with spirituality (such as the twin flames theory) and psychology (attachment styles). We'll explore practical tools like gratitude.
- Then, we'll analyse Plato's Phaedrus, focusing on the idea that love is about elevating the beloved for their benefit, rather than possessing them. We'll discuss practical tools for practicing empathy to embody this philosophy.
- Finally, we'll unravel the myth of Eros and Psyche as a metaphor for the significance of the inner journey. We'll explore practical tools for overcoming limiting beliefs, emphasizing the importance of self-discovery and growth.
I will provide reading materials and PDFs with homework and exercises, that can be easily managed through a busy schedule.
This course will enable you to trust in yourself and others, and attract healthy lasting romantic love
