My name is Giacomo Ronca. I am from Italy and currently studying at King's College in London. I am in the first year of my undergraduate degree and reading PPE (Philosophy, Politics, and Economics). Italian is my native language, but I also speak fluent English.
Despite recently coming into contact with the British culture, I consider myself, more than anything else, Italian. I have lived and studied in Turin for most of my life (elementary school, middle school, and three years of high school), finding a particular interest in Italian literature and engaging with further readings outside of the classroom. For example, I perused Dante's masterpiece "La Divina Commedia", introduced initially during classes, and continuously enjoyed confronting myself with Pirandello's, Fenoglio's, Pavese's, Levi's, Calvino's, and others' writings. In particular, the Italian book I found most compelling and thought-provoking is Levi's "Se questo è un uomo", as it describes a raw and authentic perspective of the Holocaust from the eyes of an ordinary man, who also happens to come from my city of origin. Therefore, my passion for the Italian language and literature inevitably makes me thrilled about the job opportunity offered by your inspiring company.
Accordingly, I am writing to express interest in the Italian Tutor position. This would be an excellent opportunity for me to share my knowledge of the Italian language. I may lack some teaching experience, but across my studies, I have witnessed various levels of Italian grammar and literature teaching, ranging from a basic level of Italian (elementary school) to a more complex and comprehensive understanding of the language (the traditional scientific high school I attended for three years). For this reason, I believe I could be just the right fit for your company, as I have a lot of learning experience and have encountered various teaching methods. Additionally, I can also understand the difficulties a student may be undergoing while learning the complex Italian language. This is because I experienced similar challenges when first exposed to the English language at a young age. In this sense, I am convinced I have the communication skills required to make students comfortable and, at the same time, eager to learn.
Thank you so much for considering my application. My CV provides more information about my studies and activities. However, if you have further questions, do not hesitate to email or call. I look forward to hearing back from you and hopefully begin tutoring as soon as possible.
Yours faithfully,
Giacomo Ronca.
