I am a web design & development student at Edinburgh Napier University. Currently I am studying
front-end development and using GitHub to save my university projects, but I also have much
experience with many programming languages as Java, JavaScript, Python and C++. I arrived in
Edinburgh on the October of 2021, and since September of the last year I worked in the Agriculture
and Rural Economy (ARE) Directorate, in particular in the ISD Service Desk. As a placement student
during that period, I had the opportunity to contribute to the job carried by my team as well as
expand my knowledge with external projects in collaboration with developers from the same
directorate.
A reference from my line manager within the Scottish Government:

“Since Joining us in September 2022, Giacomo has excelled in all areas of his student
placement practises.
Despite Giacomo only being with us for a short space of time, I consider him one of the most
knowledgeable members of the Service Desk and I regularly seek support from him in
dealing with complex incidents.
Giacomo is recognised across the division as being reliable, enthusiastic and hard working.
He is focused, logical and consistently thorough in all areas of his work and has been
praised by Senior Management for his output and his impressive ability to learn new skills
quickly. Giacomo has a very approachable nature and a willingness to help others. He is an
asset to our team.
He has been, and will continue to be involved in projects outside of his normal Service Desk
duties for the remainder of his time with us. This is for his own experience and development
but also as a sought out and preferred collaborator as he is confident in presenting his own
ideas, as well as being dependable and having the ability to thrive when working under
pressure and commit to deadlines.
I believe that Giacomo will succeed in all of his future studies and has a very promising
career ahead. I would be thrilled for him to one day re-join us as a permanent member of
staff if the opportunity would arise.”

I am Italian and I’ve graduated at the ITI G. Marconi (VR), a high school with focus on Information
Technologies.
Therefore, I have broad basics knowledge about the most of programming systems and networking
topics. Furthermore, I earned some qualifications by the Cisco Networking Academy and The Linux
Professional Institute.
I am interested in expanding and improve my knowledge about coding, creating apps and working
with a team on new features for existing apps in response to customer demand. I want to contribute
to create useful software tools based on my studies about programming languages, algorithms and
networks.
To conclude, I would appreciate to coach to someone new in the IT industry. At the top of the page of my CV you find my contacts, please do not hesitate to get in
touch.
Thanks for spending your time to read this cover letter.

Sincerely,
Giacomo Lorenzi
