As a visual artist, set and costume designer I have worked in TV, Theatre and TV Commercials for the past 12 years and I would love to discuss how my skills and experience will be a good fit for this position.
Both in Theatre and TV, a designer’s job is to create a ‘new world’ on screen or on stage, thus, I have been professionally trained to be adaptable and creative in various environments. I have successfully completed numerous projects for theatre and TV, such as: tv series, theatre productions, site specific performances, commercial spots and more. I have also designed various fictional brands and labels for use in sets which I have been assigned to ensure my creative juices are active in a fast paced environment.
My degree in Fine Arts with Major in Painting and Theatre Design as well as my MA in Theatre Design have played a significant role in enhancing my creativity. The skills I acquired from my studies in the arts include: creating art pieces out of nothing, being resourceful, sculpturing, painting, the art of performance, digital painting and design, knowledge of the theatre space and stage, being able to handle technical difficulties on stage and in site specific locations. Having a Master’s degree from Wimbledon college of arts, University of the Arts London (MA Theatre Design) I am used to working practices in the UK and in Europe in general, having lived for 3 and a half years in London as a professional in the arts after my masters, for two and a half years.
Among my works, I was able to participate in several performance based events and exhibitions, such as the 8th International Theatre Universiade, the Third Act of the Six Acts workshop in Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space, the International Scenographers’ Festival IN3 in Basel, as well as collaborations with the University of Arts London (UAL), Laban school of choreographers, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) and more.
Most recently I have worked on the sets and/or costumes for “The Curse of Tzela Delafraga” Greek tv series, “Out of Order” Greek tv series, “The Traveling Players” theatre production, “The Red Notebooks” theatre production, X Factor Greece etc.
My experience on the X factor Greece and on commercial spots gave me the opportunity to get out of “storytelling” in a dramaturgical way and express my passion fro fashion industry and fashion design, The above allowed me to be more adaptable and commercial with my works, being able to adapt to every weeks’ theme and needs. Working in such fields made me very agile into creating concepts and alternatives for every situation and executing them with success in very short period of time, also taught me to be able to manage tight and large budgets regarding the specifications of each project. I have worked on commercial spots for big companies such as Maggi, Generali insurance company, Allianz insurance company, Sugarfree clothing apparel, Addidas, Vodafone etc.
Regarding the field of education and working with children, as mentioned in my CV I have successfully worked for Karmen Rougeri production company which is the biggest production company in Greece for children’s theatre.
Furthermore, as a part of my BA in the Department of Fine and Applied Arts was the mandatory teaching of fine arts in local schools so students get the eligibility to work in schools after graduation if the would like to. Additionally, I had put up 2 schools’ plays as a part of my extracurricular activity in the above mentioned university, both about Ancient Greek theatre (“Lysistrata” and “Iliad”), witch I don’t mention in my CV for reasons to make it shorter and easier to read.
I have been on field for several years now and I feel the urge to pass some of my experience to the younger generations. Being able to be in touch with students and get them to learn about theatre is something that intrigues me.
