Hello ... I am an experienced social sciences teacher, with 7 years experience in teaching subjects and working closely with exam boards for WJEC Criminology, AQA Sociology and AQA Psychology. I can work 1 to 1 or in small groups. I like to understand what motivates you, what your aims are, how you best work and I am quite flexible when it comes to strategies and activities to get the most out of every session. I work with a variety of different platforms and techniques setting interactive digital documents, jamboards, flashcards, quizzes and modelling key exam skills, breaking down questions and identifying the command phrases to ascertain what is needed. Retrieval practices are essential for revision and recall of key words and examples. I like to utilise real world examples in lessons to apply theories and evaluate key knowledge for exams too. Key research methods and examples of research are also utilised in many lessons. I have experience teaching social sciences but also have developed a greater understanding for the discipline through my own studies at degree level and currently at Masters level for Criminology and Criminal Psychology. I will be able to utilise engaging sources, videos, flashcards, quizzes, presentations, word walls, jamboards and more to engage with key elements of the subject. I will also work to improve your exam technique and help to lower exam worries, utilising modelled examples, breaking down mark schemes and completing practice questions. I enjoy supporting students through the key topics of Sociology, Psychology or Criminology giving feedback to help you grow as a more confident and independent learner.
