Georgina Pollard

Hi! I am a master's student studying Spanish and Italian Interpreting and Translating at the University of Bath. I have a BA in Modern Languages that includes modules in history, business, translation, and interpreting. I have experience teaching languages and English as a foreign language. I have worked in schools in the UK and Italy as well as tutoring primary and secondary school students in Spain. I have worked in the UK with students with additional learning needs such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia etc. supporting them in all of their lessons from maths to art.

Students' needs are very important to me so therefore I tailor my lessons to the individual student rather than having one singular approach. Having studied languages for over 13 years, I have accumulated many different language learning resources and have experienced various teaching styles and learning activities. This means that I am well equipped to help students find their most effective way of learning.

Most importantly, learning should be fun and I always aim to incorporate fun and interesting activites in my lessons. I always welcome student feedback and can tweak my lessons to better suit the student's interests and skills.

Culture is an important part of learning languages and I am always sure to include cultural elements and understanding in my lessons. I believe this makes language learning more fun and helps students to develop an understanding and appreciation of other people and countries. Having lived in Italy and Spain previously I have first hand knowledge of the culture of these countries.
