I like to start with a short vocal and body warm up to one break the ice/any tension you may have and two it is great practice for if you want to go into the industry.

Depending on whether it is practical or theory work you require help on, I will talk through your ideas and thoughts first before giving my input. This helps me to gauge where your head is at.

I will use methods taken from practitioners such as Uta Hagen, David Mamet & Michael Chekhov as well as whomever you are studying. I will talk through their theories and practices in a theoretical and practical manner looking through different activities and exercises and how we can apply them to whichever play/character you are studying.

I find these particular practitioners to be very different in their approaches so will offer a very well rounded understanding on how to “act” (please note that acting is so subjective and so finding the truth of your character will vary between each individual)

When it comes to essay writing I believe that all you do practically will always be key to writing a good essay. In order to write about something it’s best to have done it yourself to find if/how it works for you. I will try to incorporate this as much as possible. I will go through how to critically reflect on your own practice which will benefit your understanding of the themes & characters of whichever play you are studying as well as learning how to overcome any challenges you face.

Most importantly I want our sessions to be fun and stress free as I find having this environment encourages growth and development. I will work with each individual to find a way of learning that helps them best.
