My lessons normally feature a range of learning styles and adaptations to allow for learners to engage fully. These comprise of practical tasks, online or interactive tasks and of course written tasks. I have a wide range of knowledge when it comes to learners with difficulties and have first hand knowledge due to my own sister having these difficulties. This means I am extremely passionate about learners having barriers removed from learning and having the chance they deserve to succeed.
I often use a wide range of resources and skills in my lessons and am keen to showcase my professionalism. I always model the behaviour that I would like my students to show.
My experience in teaching has been a wide range. I started working as a teaching assistant in 2017 and continued to do this for a year. I then began teaching unqualified at a school for learners with an Autism diagnosis. I worked here teaching all lessons across the primary curriculum to a class of 6 learners of secondary age working below age related expectations . I then made the decision to move into a SEMH setting and worked with primary children delivering a personal bespoke curriculum dependent on their individual needs.
This led me to where I am now, working as a food technology teacher, teaching primary, secondary and GCSE groups. Although I deliver a practical lesson there are so many aspects of theory and cross curricular links, from maths to science. These skills are all beneficial to allow learners the chance they deserve to succeed.
