I have experience in tutoring English language and literature from KS3 to undergraduate degree level. I am adept with making lessons fun and interactive with pupils while encouraging a safe space for learning and asking questions. I allow the students to take the lead with how much or how little guidance and feedback they would like, whether it be to do with a particular task/piece of work or more general help with English language.
I have experience tutoring students through a 'Writing Wrongs' workshop, through which I successfully helped students adapt a piece of their own creative writing. I am happy to work with poetry, prose, drama, and non-fiction work like articles, diaries, news reports etc. Additionally, I am happy to help tutor students with a particular text so long as I am given suitable notice to read the text itself. I am happy to go through topics such as themes, characters, narrative construction, plot devices, dialogue etcetera and help students create essay plans to help with exams. In terms of university essays, I am happy to go through certain success criteria that pertains to first class/ upper second class division essays and give constructive feedback to pre-written essays.
