I have taught A level and GCSE Biology in schools and colleges for over 15 years and seen great success from my students.
I have worked with high-flyers who need to be stretched and pushed to the highest grades as well as students who need a little more time and patience to achieve their potential. I understand the need for very different approaches depending on the student in front of me.
I also know the major pitfalls and misconceptions students can have and so plan my sessions to challenge these and ensure high performance.
I have been a classroom teacher, a head of department and senior leader so know what it takes to succeed.
I understand that knowing the subject matter is important but that exam skills are just as critical.
I believe that exam Q's and feedback are the number one way to improve in any subject and will structure sessions around this.
I can also set work for students to complete in between our sessions.
I will create an environment where it is ok to fail, actually where it is a good thing as it means we can identify where to focus in order to drive improvement.
