In order to satisfy the needs of the individual student I have designed a database listing all the key skills learnt at secondary school level in order of difficulty. During the first session we would rate a students competence in each of these skills and therefore prioritise specific topics for forthcoming lessons. During the lessons we will typically focus on one key skill and ensure that this is mastered before moving on. Through use of a visualiser and a white board I am able to show examples, as I work and talk through them, then give questions for a student to complete. We will also ensure we address exam style questions in nearly every session if the student is in Year 10 or 11 as exam technique is a common stumbling point for even those students who are the most confident in mathematics. I would ensure that topics are briefly revisited at the start of the next session in order to make sure the student has retained knowledge and can apply it in unfamiliar circumstances. After every hour session I would spend a further half an hour planning the next session. Lessons will take place on google meet, and some online software for answering questions can be used if the student is confident with this method. Lessons will be bespoke and personalised to the needs of the individual.
