I am a highly experienced, skilled, and dedicated teacher with 29 years of experience in teaching geography at KS3, KS4 and at the advanced level. I have taught Ordinary and Advanced level Geography in Jamaica for 9 years and I have been teaching here in the Aylesbury Buckinghamshire UK for the past 20 years.
I obtained a Diploma in Education from the Mico University College, a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of the West Indies Mona and my Qualified Teacher Status from The Teaching Regulation Agency in 2005.
I have consistently set very high expectations Which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils in different learning environment here in the UK as well as in Jamaica. There are always high levels of mutual respect between me and the pupils that I teach. I am very effective in promoting learners' resilience, confidence and independence when tackling challenging activities.
My many years of teaching in various environments have taught me that every pupil is unique and that with the right motivation and inspiration, each is able to achieve their full potential. I do recall a former pupil of mine that only decided to do geography at the examination level because she enjoyed my year 9 geography lessons. She has since then completed a Doctorate in Human Geography at Oxford University and she is now a lecturer at the University of the West Indies Mona campus in Kingston Jamaica.
I will ensure that all my lessons are tailored to the needs of each pupil and that the experience will be enjoyable and rewarding. All lessons will be planned based on the exam board specifications being used by each pupil. I am familiar with the specifications of all the major boards such as AQA, OCR and Pearson Edexcel. I am also very familiar with the geography national curriculum in England for KS3.
