I have 14 years of experience in teaching conversational and Business English to executives around the world. I started my career in person in China, and now I work exclusively online. My students work in mainly international companies where English is the official language used for all communication. I mainly teach from pre-intermediate level and up. I also live in a multi-lingual household.

The materials I use depends on the student. Some students like to have structure and know exactly what steps to follow from the start.
Others prefer a more relax flow to the lesson where we can discuss a variety of different topics. I can give articles or videos or allow the student to bring their own materials to the lesson. Both approaches are fine and can work well.

Language is about building set structures and growing confidence in using them. This is why I prefer to have a more relaxed 'feel' to the lesson so it can be much more enjoyable. The more you enjoy what you are doing, the more you will want to do it.
