I use different strategies based on the potential of child , some strategies like Map annotations, graphic organizers , Google Earth, PPT are used to teach. In History role plays and videos are shown to make them understand the chapters in a better way. Also in Geography and Political Science debate or real life examples are used so that child can relate it better.
Different energizers are kept ready if child's attention is deviating from the concept.
Many a time when a concept is not very complicated I use flip classes ( only with higher grades) which make them study the topic in detail, do a thorough research and on it and present it in the class. This also boost their confidence.
I make sure that topics are introduced in a different way as in the topic is elicited from the child which make them focus more on the topic. chapters are related with other subjects as well so that an integrated studies are done.
At the end of each session Recapitulation is done to check the understanding of the child. Different ways to do it is as follows- Exit card, Quiz, Crosswords, Debate etc, Depending upon the topic and time , the activity is decided.
I make sure that the topic is explained in a simple way so that the child understands it easily and is able to retain it and also is enjoying the class while learning important lesson.
I observe the child first then decide on to then strategies to use with the child.
