I like to take a student-led approach where we work collaboratively using study methods you enjoy to foster active learning and lifelong habits. No two students are alike!

Generally, the first lesson is to establish goals, materials we want to work with, and our experiences up until that point. After this initial discussion, we will create a learning plan and break our larger goal into several smaller goals. Though there will be a plan for each lesson, I would much prefer that the student comes with something difficult they have encountered that week or a certain scenario that they feel less comfortable with so we can address the skills that matter to the individual.

I predominantly focussed on security and irregular warfare issues at university but also did modules in linguistics and teaching English as a Foreign Language. I studied abroad in Yaroslavl and at Saint. Petersburg State University where I took modules in Russian language, literature, culture, and film. I have a special interest in late-Soviet cinema and would love to discuss how to incorporate your own interests into English language or literature, or study skills generally.

In my spare time, I enjoy yoga and hillwalking and I am always on the move. I have a very bouncy dog who may make an appearance in some of our virtual lessons!
