Howdy! My name is Ms. Thomas, I have a bachelors in Elementary Education and English, but I am currently working on a masters in Special Education. I have tutored over 50 students and my favorite cereal is Synonym Toast Crunch! Growing up, I was a very visual learner, so I tend to use a wide array of visuals and charts during our sessions. Depending on consistency, I like to spin a wheel at the beginning of each session and outline what we intend to do for the day. Then, I like to account for where you are in your classes and your level of comfortability in each subject. We can expand on any notes you have taken or any progress you have made in a previous assignment. I also like to look at teacher feedback and see what direction your professor wishes for you to go in! We will also dedicate part of the session to review or analyze what you have been learning in the classroom. I love to do background research for my students and develop study guides that align with the teacher's instruction. Any novel or book you may be reading I would like to be informed of on the first day so I can read along and research with you! After the first day, the schedule generally consists of review, pedagogue and then application by doing an assignment. I try to make every session different to allow students a more positive experience, but these three are the general staples of my teaching. Teaching online can come with some hardships, but it is an excellent tool for sharing videos, taking quizzes and working on assignments simultaneously. If your student needs a custom assignment to fit their learning needs, I have a history of crafting worksheets and documents that challenge students while encouraging them to succeed in their field.
