I’m a native Spanish speaker from Colombia but born and raised in England. I am currently studying Hispanic studies and film studies at the university of Liverpool. I have experience tutoring 4 pupils who were preparing for their GCSES and I tutored 1 A-level student this year. I have also volunteered at a school in Colombia teaching English, so I know how lesson formats work. However, I think it’s most important to adapt a tutoring session to the specific student so they can gain the most out of the teaching.
I like to incorporate some translations at the beginning of the class to get everyone thinking about the language. I think it’s important to go over the lesson topic and get the student to say out loud the words or phrases in Spanish. I also like to include Kahoot games at the end as a fun way to summarize what was learned in the class.
