Freddie Barnes

My name is Freddie Barnes, and I am an honours graduate (BA in English and Philosophy) from Maynooth University.
I specialise in essay composition, reading comprehension and close reading, along with critical theory.
I also have a strong base of knowledge of biology and history, and an exceptional knowledge of art history, having spent the past year in the employ of the National Galleries of Scotland.
Tutorial sessions will take place over hour-long blocks, wherein I will review past work on a one-to-one basis, offer tips and tricks to improve the quality and legibility of your assignments, and/or practice close reading in order to improve reading comprehension, critical thinking, and overall grasp of a given text.
We will find and focus on areas in which you can improve to achieve the best possible results with your work. I can grade practice exam papers for Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate students, as well as go through upcoming assignments and questions in order to provide support before they are submitted for grading.
I would recommend bi-weekly or weekly tutorial sessions if you have been struggling with grades over an extended period of time, but often, for a specific issue, a one-to-two hour workshop is sufficient to provide supports and strategies to work either through or around the problem.
I am the perfect tutor for you if you struggle with essay composition, with understanding texts, prose or poetry, or with comprehension questions.
