The method I use starts with direct communication as I present the new language to be learnt. This, of course, can be done at any level, as the learner uses all the language they have already learnt to communicate. The basic system of the language needed for communication are statements, negative statements and closed/open questions. Within that we use various forms of vocabulary and grammar structures that we use to say different things. The best way to learn this is to be presented and guided through a structured course from A1-C1 (Begginer-Advanced) and I follow the Cambridge guidelines which ensures learners can monitor their progress by taking recognized exams like PET and CAE, as well as IELTS for learners with more academic goals. Most importantly, my sessions focus on speaking during online lessons. Reading, writing and listening skills should be practiced at the learners own pace to suit their needs, but learners can practice everything they are learning with a very effective, speaking program, based on presentation, practice and production. I’ve been teaching English a a second or other language since 1996 and I think it’s the most effective way to learn a language and it’s fun too . I use all kinds of resources that you can find online these days to provide variety, an essential principle in acquiring a new language, and keep my lsessions and courses student centered, so that learners remain engaged and are talking about things they are really interested and often need to know for various reasons.
