About me

I teach using the works of the masters - Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, etc.

My teaching methods are such that I adapt my teaching to suit the individual needs of each of my students as I believe there is not one way only to learn or teach. I offer positive instruction with the use of visual games to enhance the imagination which are suitable for all levels.

In the beginning when we first meet, it's helpful for me to watch my student draw so I can learn how I can help and also hear what my student has to say about their experience in art. From this point we can sort out how the lesson should go and what their goals are and what time is needed to work together to achieve those goals.

As a Fine Artist, I begin each lesson very traditionally and start students off with short exercises to get them moving without giving thought to fear or anxiety or perfectionism. This means we will be drawing at a fast pace, often using a timer or stopping and starting. Following this, we begin exercising the imagination with a series of creative games that are designed to let you play and not worry about the visual outcome. During this process, I learn more about your reactions and how you handle each exercise which in turn helps me learn how to guide our lesson so you get the best outcome for your goals.
We finish with a longer study which helps you learn to "see" so that you feel you've had a visual work out by the end of the lesson. Between lessons, I expect my students to practice so that we can see progress during our lessons together.
