My approach to tutoring: As an experienced music tutor with over 10 years as a bass player, my approach centers on fostering independence and effective study habits in my students. I believe that understanding the method behind learning is just as important as the material itself. This philosophy ensures that my students not only grasp the concepts at hand but also develop the skills to tackle new challenges on their own. Our first lesson is always dedicated to assessing your goals, expectations, and what you hope to achieve. From this initial meeting, I shape a personalized approach to address your specific needs, focusing on strengthening weaknesses and honing your strengths. In my lessons, I am patient and adaptable, tailoring my teaching to the unique needs and pace of each student. Each session typically focuses on one subject at a time, combining targeted practice with practical examples. For instance, we might spend one or a couple of lessons creating your first bass line, applying theoretical knowledge that we just looked up to real-world scenarios. With qualifications including an HND in Music and a Grade 8 from Trinity Rock and Pop Music School, alongside extensive experience as a session musician and orchestra bass player, I bring a well-rounded and practical perspective to our sessions. My goal is to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable and motivated to grow as musicians. Whether you’re starting with the basics or refining advanced techniques, I’m here to help you achieve your musical aspirations.
