I have held numerous positions over the years which have helped transform me into the experienced and achieving teacher I am today. Notable was back in 2013 where I held the position of an Elementary Teacher at Heritage House School, Lagos Nigeria.
In this role, I was responsible for making learning environment conducive for my pupils, making themes and observations, writing reports, organizing class activities, facilitating learning, seminars among parents and teachers etc.
As a teacher, I try to initiate meaningful and trusting relationships among my students whereby they have confidence to approach me. I encourage them where necessary and reward them to compliment their efforts.
Paying attention and having listening ears are some of my watch words because to be successful in teaching and achieve the desired learning outcomes, one should be able to understand her learners. How can this be achieved? This could be achieved through observation, attention and getting right information through listening.
However, my style of teaching for Kindergarten/ nursery includes: observation, report writing, story telling, exploration, spontaneous learning, making themes, play, creative writing, reading, demonstration, flash cards, use of concrete materials etc
For elementary school, I work with each child according to his/her abilities thereby using differentiation method. I use videos, pictures, concrete, imagination, communication most especially using of the four language skills.
My lesson is flexible and it addresses each student's needs.
With their best interest in my mind I will always strive to bring out the best in my students and nurture their potential.
