The main focus for me is exam-style questions and how to answer them to a high level. To judge the students' writing style, I always start by getting them to write out an exam question and show me how they would answer it, after reading it gives me a better sense of the level at which they are writing and ask them what they think they struggle with.
It is important to note that for English there is no right or wrong answer as long as their point is backed up with evidence, I will teach them PEAZ method and how structure is important for any exam question.
I will always strive to improve their vocabulary and help them improve their writing style to adapt to the exam board's standards.
My experience is with GCSE students, I do not have an extensive background in teaching but I have always loved teaching those around me, and everyone I have taught has come back to me with positive results and improved their grades by at least 2 e.g. from a grade 4 to a grade 6. I am a friendly person and I am always open to questions and will always make sure the student is comfortable with the way I teach or if they want me to change the way I teach to suit their needs, I will never give up on a student and make sure they receive the help they need.
