After 4 years of experience tutoring a wide range of age groups and confidence levels I have nailed down a reliable teaching method for maximising a students potential. I believe the two most important factors when it comes to succeeding in an exam situation are understanding of the content above and beyond the syllabus and having the best exam technique possible. Whether it's GCSE maths or University level Physics, every student is capable of learning beyond the content prescribed for their exam. This both creates a positive learning experience where students are encouraged to ask questions and further their understanding past what's necessary and also builds comfortability and flexibility with the content they will be using in their exam. If you combine a good understanding of the content with exam technique you put yourself in a very strong position to perform well in any exam you're faced with, easy or hard. Exam Technique refers to the following ideas - knowing which questions to spend more time on, knowing how examiners want questions to be answered, utilising all the information in the exam to improve your answers, keeping a level head and working towards your strengths, 'sanity checking' your answers to know when to give questions another go etc. With a tutor to help you every student has the potential to perform well if they apply themselves and practice sufficiently, hopefully the process can also be enjoyable with the right mindset and approach.
