About me

As an educator with over thirty years of experience within my field, including as a Headteacher at a successful
international school, I know the value that the right teacher can add to the lives of their students. In my work as a
specialised Mathematics and Science tutor for GCSE and A-Level students, my vision is to empower young adults to
fulfil their ambitions for tertiary study and beyond.

As an educator with over thirty years of experience within my field, including as a Headteacher at a successful
international school, I know the value that the right teacher can add to the lives of their students. In my work as a
specialised Mathematics and Science tutor for GCSE and A-Level students, my vision is to empower young adults to
fulfil their ambitions for tertiary study and beyond.
Over the course of my career I have become an expert in my field, well-positioned to guide young people to build
confidence in their abilities by utilising proven, high-impact teaching strategies, in order to achieve the exam results
that they need to meet their life’s goals. With the intention of aiding entry into Oxbridge and Russell Group
Universities, I draw on my extensive experience to offer tutoring that is designed to maximise student engagement
and progress. Through one-to-one tutoring, I have assisted hundreds of students from all over the world to make fast,
substantial, and sustained academic progress, often exceeding their own expectations and leading them to
re-evaluate themselves as capable, competent learners, equipped with the ability to make lasting, extensive
academic progress.
Tutoring enables me to connect with young people at their point of need, bringing with me an understanding of
current exam content, and developing personalised plans that are tailored to the needs of each individual. In order to
provide the best possible outcomes for my students, I strive to equip them with the necessary tools to overcome
difficulties, break through their perceived barriers, and to navigate their way through the challenges of intensive
study with success. During tutoring sessions, I support students to develop effective study and revision strategies,
and to build their understanding of the requirements of their exams. My teaching strategies are based on methodical
problem solving and metacognitive learning pedagogies that encourage highly effective content retention. My
teaching practises focus on personalising learning strategies, encouraging confidence, improving exam technique and
refining exam-specific language skills, laying the foundation for ultimate academic achievement. I find it extremely
fulfilling to know that I have played a part in setting young adults on the pathway to success, providing them with
access to the prestigious institutions in which they wish to study medicine, engineering, or similar subjects.
I believe that learning is a lifelong journey, and as such, I saturate my spare time with learning of my own. My current
areas of interest include coding and robotics, as well as building cabins on the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Highlights
of my career have often involved a fusion of personal and professional interests, for example, taking part in the
Cambridge University Isaac program, as well as the renowned Xprize. These experiences provided me with a valuable
and rewarding opportunity with which to share my enthusiasm for science, biotech, and computer science with the
next generation.
