Age group is always a huge factor in the style of my lessons. Younger groups will find my lessons to feel more like games with a goal at the end to keep them motivated and engaged whereas older groups will find that the format is a lot more informative whilst also keeping that colloquial style to build relationships with my students. The students themselves however also play a huge part as their preferences way of learning is very important. With experience I have managed to work with both individuals and groups of students and have developed a way in which I can offer a variety of different approaches to my lessons. PowerPoints have always been a go to for me as I think visualisation is a great help when learning. I like to use themes in my work and take a personal
liking to working with seasons and holidays to keep my lessons relevant. For example, finding ways to incorporate Christmas into my lessons around the time of December. Adding fun to my classes is my number one priority as I believe a student will always remember and learn much more efficiently if they’re having fun whilst doing it. Competitions are a great way of pushing students to do better but also rewarding them even if they don’t quite hit the target to assure them that they are still doing well. I also think it is very important to know and understand your student on a personal level so you can tailor your lessons to their personal needs and preferences and in some case tailor the content to something that they would enjoy.
