I like to see what the student is struggling in first instead of focusing on the topics they find easy. I would start off with a starter some basic questions to see if they know the foundations of that topic and helps me also see where they need work. I like to see what the student is struggling in first instead of focusing on the topics they find easy. I would start off with a starter some basic questions to see if they know the foundations of that topic and helps me also see where they need work. I feel like maths is something students struggle in as it’s a subject where each question has only one answer a specific outcome no other than that. Practice questions are a very important as not all questions are the same and helps the student use their knowledge of the topic and apply it to the question. Helps them recognise a wider range of questions as in the exams you never know what comes up. In my experience of tutoring what I’ve realised is students are not going to understand from the first try and practice is the key to understanding. When teaching you need to see from the students point of view and can’t expect them to know it straight away just cause It may seem simple to me doesn’t mean it’s simple to them. Staying patient and if they get too stressed should give them a break and allow them to breath and take some time as an overload of work isn’t going to help them in their learning. I get many of my resources of many amazing websites I’ve come by during my own study times that I spent. As someone whose always been self taught I think I can really elevate a students learning.
