I have had the opportunity to teach at many different schools and have always prioritised identifying the different needs of the children in my class and planning my lessons in a way that the needs of my children are met and learning is taking place in a fun and exciting environment. Some children may learn better by watching the teacher demonstrate a question and explaining each step, whereas others may learn better by being involved in the demonstration and using a variety of teaching materials/visual aids to assist their learning process. I believe every child is a mathematician, but not every child learns in the same manner and that is something I as a teacher need to identify and adapt my lesson plans accordingly. I have had children who have joined my class and been absolutely terrified of maths however after using a variety of teaching methods and showing them that maths can be fun they have always ended the year with a newfound love for maths! A pen and book isn’t enough when it comes to Maths, visual aids are an important part of this subject and really helps students grasp complex ideas. No one has become a legend overnight so I would like my students to know that I will always be here to help them even if they need me to go over the same lesson a good few times, we all learn at different paces and that is totally fine! Let’s go mathematicians we can do this!
