I have been tutoring GCSE mathematics for two years and my students have all gotten grade 8s and 9s so I am very comfortable with the content.
In the first lesson I would ask you if they have any areas which you find particularly challenging and I would note these down for future lessons. I would then ask you to complete a set of mixed topic questions and find the topics where you may have gaps but may not have realised it.
The following lessons will be us covering content which have been identified as weak spots. I believe the most effective way of learning maths is simply by practising it. This is why the lesson will be focussed more on you actually doing questions rather than me just telling you what to do. I also believe that by tackling questions head on you will be much more engaged and focussed despite not being in an actual classroom. At the end of each lesson I will ask you to complete an exam question to ease you into knowing how to apply your knowledge in an exam setting, which I know is often an issue with many students.
After having covered all the topics which you struggled with I will be able to give lessons where I will teach you how to use your past papers in the most effective way. We will also find recurring topics of weakness in these past papers and I will be sure to reteach these topics and solidify your understanding further.
Each lesson is an hour long however I can do two hour long lessons if requested. I will be sharing my screen from my iPad so that you can see what I am doing. If you have an iPad or some sort of touchscreen device which you can write on, it would be great to use a platform called "Scrible" so that we can both write and add to notes, questions, etc. As I am currently on a gap year, I am very flexible with timing and can do almost anytime even if it is quite late at night.
