I start my lessons by taking my students through observing health and safety rules of using a sewing machine.

This is followed by threading the sewing machine and sewing straight lines on stable fabrics like calico

This will be followed by joining fabric pieces together in various shapes, then heming a straight edge and curved edges .

For alterations, I will teach how to shorten dresses and hem them back. Fix zips, change waist band elastic. Take out or take in clothes.

For advanced classes, I will follow this up with finishing of inners of clothes. Drafting basic patterns such as the bodice, skirt and trousers.
