I hold a 120 hr/150hr and 60 hr TEFL/Tesol certification. I try to create a positive learning environment and make my lessons educational and fun as possible by using props, flashcards and TPR. I believe in motivating and supporting learners, understanding that lessons should be dynamic, meaningful and stimulating and should respond to the learners’ emotional, cognitive and linguistic needs. I believe that a part of understanding the English language goes hand-in-hand with having fun whilst learning. Together we can accomplish this by reading, writing, and listening with correct grammar and pronunciation. Every learner and teacher has a different experience day by day to make the English language easier to understand. Creating interactive learning environments, rather than environments in which the learners are merely passive recipients of information. Being approachable at all times, being a person that learners can go to with any concerns or to share an amusing story, being an active listener, trying very hard to be consistent even although you may feel under the weather, etc. When learners are in full flow and are communicating, it’s often wise to let it run even if there are mistakes. After they have finished, you can then pick up on the mistakes or errors.
To ensure, for example, that your lessons have clear objectives and clear goals and that the activities are varied and personalized for learners. Ensure that you give feedback and assess on an ongoing basis.
