By being a reading mentor for Biology, I have experience one being able to assist students to become fluent in their academic capabilities. I adapted my interpersonal skills, and I gained effective ways to communicate with people of different ages. I learnt to be a supportive role model and guide students to reach their goals through encouragement, perseverance and dedication, in which I hope to do the same for tutoring. My lesson and structuring will include having personalised and tailored monitoring and feedback, as I will keep in track a student's progress, and can be ready to assist them with topics or questions they struggle with and need more help in. I will further guide them through working out, going through a detailed example or going through questions with them to further consolidate their learning and continue with exam preparation support, making you more confident in your biological knowledge of the whole spec. I will also be keen to go through each topic of the biology course to a point where you understand it and at a normal pace, as I will stop at anytime if there is something you may not understand, before moving onto a new topic. As always, reflecting on specific exam boards are also very important, as maintaining to certain specific areas which are mandatory for your academic curriculum can help a student get a feel for what potentially can appear in their next exam.
