I have experience in the teaching of hands on, vocational skills such as blacksmithing and path building. Additionally I have trained as an English language tutor and completed a degree in History. This experience ensures that my lessons will be focused and driven by attentiveness to the needs of the individual student.
This starts with forming a rapport and a learning relationship with the student. It is imperative to understand the students' motivations and what they wish to achieve from the tuition, as well as the particular challenges their subject presents to them. Therefore my first lesson always consists of a discussion wherein these objectives and concerns can be voiced.
Based on this discussion I will select the relevant learning materials and lesson plans to create a curriculum of study.
I am passionate about my subject matter, especially history and literature, and it is always my aim to inspire that passion in my students. The surest marker for academic success is interest and engagement with the subject at hand. As such my lessons will always be enthusiastic and inspiring for students. The aim is not just that students pass with a good grade, but that they come away with an appreciation for the history and stories that form the bedrock of our society.
